Looking for a way to express love this Valentines month in a cute, fun, and easy way? I’ve got you covered! One of the things I struggled with on holidays such as Valentines Day and Christmas, is I feel the meaning gets lost in all of the gifts. I do have a shopping guide, if you need some easy last minute ones! A friend shared this idea with me last week and I loved it, so I thought I’d share it with you!
All you do is get some fun paper. I like things pretty simple but you can jazz up your craft any way you want. Like a little sparkle? Add some! If you like to bedazzle things, go ahead! I have this great paper with cool designs on it and it is not quite as heavy as card stock, but a good weight. I folded mine in half and traced out some half hearts on paper and then cut them out. On the front half of the heart I wrote “I love you because” or “We love you because” and then inside my husband and I put the messages to the kids. We put messages about their character and hearts, encouraging words.
We then stuck them to their bedroom doors with a little scotch tape! Such an easy thing to do and they love it. As parents we are always so busy correcting and parenting our kids sometimes it’s good to pause and just take notice and share the things we love about each one of them. And now, I think I like Valentines Day again! Woo hoo! I really loved stopping to take a moment to appreciate each of my kiddos gifts.
I loved it so much that I made a few for my husband! That also was a great exercise. I’m thinking about asking the kids to add to the ones on his mirror this week. I think it will be fun for him to come home to more and more loving thoughts! Speaking love and truth about someone out loud to them is such a powerful exercise. I feel more grateful today for my whole family!
